Food For Thought
I don’t know when I first found these at Costco, but the date on this pack is from August, 2024. Notice the price, its just twenty some dollars and it gave us two meals! We’re in our 70s now, so we eat smaller meals these days than when we did years ago. When we lived in Chicago, we’d go to a steak house called George Diamond’s on Wabash Avenue in downtown Chicago. I would get the 32 ounce Porterhouse with a baked potato and vegetable, start out with a small dinner salad and finish with a dessert. And no doggie bag! So yes, I eat a lot less than I used to, but I still think this is a good value

I just steam them in my Instapot for a half hour, then put some BBQ sauce on them and broil them for a few minutes. Really easy. I usually eat low carb high fat, so you won’t see too many starchy vegetables like potatoes or other high carb foods like pasta and bread. Although we bought a Grozney pizza oven and have been eating the pizza crust and I did just make a loaf of sourdough bread. But everything in moderation, right? Right!
BTW, my wife and I owned restaurants for 25 years. Upscale bistros. I was the chef and my wife did everything else. So we’re kind of foodies and my wife is definitely a wine-o. 🙂 She was in charge of the beverage program and also had bartending duties. We have groups of friends that we go out to dinner with and have a casual wine club thing going. I like to talk about the restaurants we go to, so if there is any place out there that you think is great, please let us know and we’ll check it out. Maybe we can get together sometime? Just a few pics from the archives…
