My wife has a sister in Venice and I have a brother in Venice, so we probably make a few more trips to Venice than the average HamptonLakean. BTW their community gates always work! Alright, lets get back on track! Longet is a French restaurant. We went there for lunch on a Saturday. Plenty of open tables as this is kind of the end of the season. Their menu offerings for lunch are not as expansive as the dinner options, but we found what we like for lunch anyway.
We got a drink menu that only had beer and wine on it. I asked about mixed drinks and our waitress said that they don’t have a dedicated bartender at lunch, but she would ask the other waitress if she could make us some mixed drinks. She came back and said “YES, what would you like”. We ordered a Manhattan and an Old Fashion. They were good! The wives had wine, I think. Or it was some kind of mixture of wines, I don’t know. But they both liked what they got. If my wife gets home from the pool before I’m done, I’ll ask her.

We ordered a Shrimp and Ricotta dish (above right) for an appetizer that we all shared. It was darn good. Kind of like shrimp and grits, but with a smoothly blended ricotta cheese mixture with a small salad in the middle with a delicious dressing and sauce. After everybody got a shrimp and some ricotta, I volunteered to finish it off! Or did I commandeer it? PoTAtoes, poTAToes! Next was our entrees which included a couple of Smash Burgers, a Shrimp Burger and a Beet Salad. All very delicious. The French Fries had an unusual cut to them, like a long wide but thin wafer. Pretty different and pretty tasty!

That was the Shrimp Burger on the upper right pic. I had my wife lift up the top of the bun to show you the shrimp burger. Again, my wife enjoyed it even though she didn’t eat the bun! I had a Smashburger with the usual fixings. I also was asked about ketchup, mustard and mayo and said yes to all of them. I thought I’d get it on the burger, but they were all on the side. No problem! I used what I wanted too use. The fries dipped in the mayo tasted pretty good! It was my wife’s sister’s birthday, so she got a Chocolate Lava Cake with Ice Cream. My wife and I got a Chocolate Creme Brulee with Ice Cream to share. all good stuff!

So, all in all, a very good lunch. If you find yourselves in downtown Venice I highly recommend this place. Here’s a link to their website for directions and more.
By the way, there’s a new addition to my website. I reinstalled a Forum app for our residents to use to talk about issues in the neighborhood. There’s one forum for the Amenity Center and one for Hampton Lakes. The Country Club side has been turned over, so they got it all under control! No need for a forum for them! 🙂 Anyway, check it out. You can get to it by clicking on the Forum link in the above main menu bar. Go there and start talking with your neighbors! Complaining’s OK, but keep it the nice kind of complaining!
OK! Don’t forget to comment and/or like this post. Share this post anywhere you can. Send it to friends and other residents. We need the exposure! See you walking around town!
