Who doesn’t like a good air show? Everybody likes a good air show, so be careful with this one. If you don’t mind paying extra, you can upgrade your seats. Do it!. We didn’t upgrade. We had to bring our own chairs, which isn’t bad, but you had to watch from a completely open field with no shade. It was sunny and it was hot. I got over baked and had to weasel my way into some shade near the drink tents.

Plus the Punta Gorda Airport is open for business during the show, so there were big gaps in the show while airliners landed and took off. It takes about 45 minutes to drive from Alva to the Punta Gorda Airport. Once you’re there, guess how long it takes to park your car? Over an hour! Then you have to get on a shuttle bus to get to the show area. When you leave, you have to get back on that shuttle and go find your car. While we were standing in line for the shuttles to go back to our car a nice show was put on by quite the aerobatic flyer. It took us about a half hour to get back on the shuttle when we were leaving.

I love old airplanes. If I do this again, I will upgrade my seating and upgrade the parking.
