Quick Dive into Low Carb High Fat Eating (LCHF)
I wrote this a while back and most of the points are covered in a previous post about doing 10 things to do to quickly lose weight, but its still worth repeating!
- Stop eating sugar! Sugar (carbs) is the enemy! Sugar is more addictive than cocaine! Its going to be tough, but you can do it! You’ll get the carb flu where you’ll feel sluggish and might have a headache. The temptation to eat some carbs and snack will be high, but hang in there. It only lasts a couple days then the effects of the good foods you start eating will kick in.
- Speaking of good foods, up your fat intake. Instead of eating cereal for breakfast, eat more bacon and eggs! Crazy huh? So by eliminating sugar and eating more fat, you train your body to start burning fat for fuel instead of glucose. You become a fat burning beast! When you eat more fat and protein you feel fuller longer. Sated! You’ll be able to skip a meal without feeling hungry. When this happens your body will start to burn the fat off your body to use as fuel. You’ll start losing weight! Just by eating the right foods! Here’s a good one… 80% of your body composition success is directly related to the foods you eat! No amount of exercise can fix a bad diet! Eliminate bread, pasta and starchy vegetables like potatoes. These turn into sugar in your system as your body digests them. Get burgers without buns and cole slaw instead of fries!
- Once you start eating right up your exercise. We’re not talking running marathons. Just walking for more than 30 minutes several times a week is a great fat burning exercise. Do sprints once a week to burn that glycogen out of your muscles! Do some body weight exercises twice a week. You know, like push ups, pull ups, squats and planks which all use your body as the weight. No need to join a gym! Play frisbee, dust off the tennis rackets, ride a bike… have fun! Exercise doesn’t have to be boring! Play tag with your spouse!
- Move around more. Instead of watching football for 9 hours on Sunday sitting on you butt, stand up and watch a game. Walk around the couch and or lazy boy. Don’t drink like a fish and eat tons of snacks. I’ve got a whole list of game day snacks that can fill in for the bad ones you’re used to! Water is your friend!
- If you really want the weight loss to kick in, avoid eating dairy and eliminate alcohol. Those things trigger hormone responses that hinder weight loss.
If you do these things, guess what, you should start to lose weight and you’ll start to get your blood sugar under control. Your insulin levels will drop because your body doesn’t have to jam those high levels of glucose in your blood into your cells as fat! I got my blood sugar under control and got off my Type II Diabetes meds. My blood pressure also went back to normal and I got off those meds too! All those meds have side effects! I lost 70 pounds over 14 months, got off all my meds and felt great! You can do it too!
