Restaurant Review – The Rum Bucket

This is the third time I’ve eaten at The Rum Bucket, but this is my first review! The first two times I was there I had burgers and they were excellent. This time I went back on a Wednesday to check out the all you can eat shrimp specials they do on that day. You can get the shrimp cooked one of two ways, either breaded and deep fried or broiled in a buttery sauce. I got the deep fried version with their fries (not Keto) and my wife got the broiled version with the cole slaw (keto).

As you can see from the pictures, you get a lot of shrimp! We got pretty filled up with this first batch, but I had to order more to see what you get and they give you decent amount again. And you can keep going! I don’t know if they’re 16-20s or 20-25s, but they are a good sized shrimp and both versions were perfectly cooked. The fries were outstanding! I think they’re coated with crack! Just kidding! They are addictive though, so watch out. I saw a lot of fry orders going out of the kitchen! The cole slaw was good with a nice dressing on it. The cocktail sauce had he right amount of tang from the horseradish and the tartar sauce was good too. No complaints at all. Pinky was our waitress and she was very nice, had a great smile with just the right amount of attentiveness.

The above pic is what I got when I said I wanted more shrimp. So that another 8 shrimp on top of the 16 (I think) shrimp I got on the initial order. But its all you can eat, so who’s counting?! I wish they gave you more fries! Also, the cole slaw portion was a little light if you ask me. It tasted so good, you wish they’d give you more. Anyway, the food and service was all good. The only ting I would work on is the interior.

We were there around 3:30 in the afternoon, so it was in between lunch and dinner and not crowded. It was HOT outside, so we sat inside which is not that interesting to me. I know its a hand painted mural of the Florida landscape, but I still think its need to be punched up a bit. My wife thought the painting of the birds were spot on and even mentioned Audubon. I would like to see some big, live plants in front of the mural to give it a three dimensional look with some spot lights highlighting parts of the wall. Four huge ceiling fans with big, wooden type fan blades would be nice to stir up the air (it was kind of warm in there). And the rugs were dirty in the high traffic areas. I would never out a rug in a restaurant just because of that problem. I would have some kind of plank flooring or tile that the staff could clean and sweep on a daily basis. In the meantime, and when the weather gets cooler, I would sit on the outside patio/porch.

So, will I go back again? Yes I would! And that’s the best review a restaurant can get. I’ll have to check out their all you can eat fish and chips on Thursdays. By the way, the final bill was $51 ($21.95 each) for the two of us and that included two unsweetened ice teas. When you think about spending $35 at a fast food place for burger meals, this is not bad at all. And this will be the only meal we will eat all day. Also, my wife couldn’t finish her initial order of shrimp, so they let her take it home! You can’t order more shrimp and then take it home. They will also let just one person order the all you can eat, but, of course, no sharing! Be nice!
