Restaurant Review – The Bluwave Lobster House
The Bluwave Lobster House is in the Sanibel Outlets Mall that’s located on Summerlin and MacGregor just before you get to the Sanibel Causeway. I wouldn’t normally drive all that way for a restaurant, but I was in the area for a doctor’s appointment so, after I was done, I went there with my wife for lunch. The night before I happened to see a commercial on TV for the restaurant, it looked good, so I thought I’d check it out.
It was good! They just recently opened for lunch, so it was not very busy. They have an open kitchen with a big glass wall, so when its busy, I imagine its very entertaining. We were told if you come for dinner to be sure to make a reservation!
So I ordered a drink off their specialty menu and my wife ordered a glass of wine. I usually order unsweetened ice tea at lunches, but I felt a little festive. Holy cow! It was the kind of drink that tastes real good, not overly boozy, but it kind of snuck up on me! Like I remember Long Island Ice Teas did! So be careful!
This is a lobster house, so I had to order lobster, right? Of course, all the lobster dishes (and some others) were at market price. So I asked up front what the current costs were for the Lobster Mac and the Lobster Roll. I think both were in the 30s. Since I didn’t want mac and cheese, I went with the Lobster Roll. My wife ordered the Coconut Shrimp. We enjoyed our meals.
I got a sufficient amount of lobster, and with the drawn plain butter, was very tasty. The garlic bread it was on was fantastic. You can get a Cajun sauce, or a spicy Cajun sauce, but I decide not to go spicy at all. The Coleslaw was good. It had an unusual taste. After asking the waitress, we determined it was from the mango. My fries were hot and crispy. My wife ordered sweet potato fries and they were also hot and crispy. The Coconut Shrimp was kind of standard. My wife said she would try something else the next time. We finished the meal with a slice of a coconut layer cake. It had an very tasty custard inside the cake. I’d get that again! If you’d like to see their website, click here.
