Restaurant Review – Pi Local and Palm Beach Pizza
I had never tried a pizza from either location until last week. I have been told that these two places are related somehow, as in the same owners, maybe. I don’t know for sure. The Pi Local in Babcock Ranch has a wood burning oven. Palm Beach Pizza does not. They have different menus. They also have different kinds of Italian Sausage to put on there pizzas. Palm Beach Italian sausage looks like small square chunks. Pi Local is very thinly sliced rounds of Italian sausage. Usually, if its the same owners, pretty much everything is the same. So I don’t know for sure.
Anyway, they’re pretty good pizzas. I ate every last ounce of them! The pizzas from Palm Beach Pizza were compliments of a neighbor who picked them up and brought them home. So, they kind of cooled down a bit and steamed a little in the to go boxes, so the dough was really soft and not crispy at all. But there was good flavor and lots of toppings (except for the Italian sausage). As you can see, they are good looking pies!
So our interest was piqued, so we decided to go to the Pi Local place in Babcock the next day. We went around 5pm on a Friday night. We ordered at the counter, got our table number and picked a table to sit at. There was a large table of teenagers and several other tables of people. The place was noisy. The kitchen is in the same room. Its all one big, noisy room. I thought, well, it can’t get any noisier in here, but then the live music showed up! So we got a guitar playing singer trying to be heard over all the other noise. The only thing that could have made it worse is if they opened the huge garage door to the outside and let all that hot, humid air in. And that’s just what they did! Sweet!
Our large pizza arrived after 28 minutes. Half sausage, onion and mushroom for me. The other half pepperoni, onion and green pepper for my wife. Looks beautiful! Piping hot. The crust was crispy and burnt in one place. Oops! The toppings didn’t really seem to get cooked much. Anyway, its a good pizza. 6 out of 10. They got beer on tap. I had an Ultra. My first Ultra! OK. Lots of interesting bottled beer. There’s a help yourself soda machine. I think it was around $28 for our pizza, so not bad. There were a lot of delivery orders being taken out. That might slow down getting your pizza in store. But with the live music, outdoor seating when the weather is nice, this place would be a great place to hang out with friends. They have lots of other food too. Paninis and wraps, salads and wings. Click here for Pi Local’s website. And click here for Palm Beach Pizza’s website.
Tony’s at the Forum is my favorite. The Stromboli is the bomb!
