Restaurant Review – Oxbow Bar and Grill

Shrimp and Grits

This restaurant is in downtown Ft Myers right on the water near Centennial Park. I’ve heard its owned by the Luminary Hotel although not located in the hotel. We met another couple in downtown Ft Myers for dinner. The plan was to go to Oxbow, but the other couple got downtown early, scouted around, and wanted to change to Izzy’s. I love Izzy’s and wouldn’t have minded, but when we met up we were standing right in front of Oxbow. I wanted to try something new, so everybody was OK with eating at Oxbow.

It turned out to be pretty good! Three of us had fish dishes and one was a pasta primavera dish. The fish dishes are the way to go. I’m writing this more than a month later, so sorry, I don’t exactly remember the details. But I do remember everybody liked my dish the best! It was snapper atop grits. Those were the best grits I’ve had in a long time! Another dish was a fish “encrusted” with andouille sausage. It really was a sauce with andouille in it that was placed over the fish. I wouldn’t call that encrusted. Nevertheless, I thought it was delicious, although it may have been a little to spicy for the woman who ordered it.

It was pitch dark when we got there, but I would imagine the view would be fantastic during the day. Drinks were good too! They have a large community drink special big enough for four people. I didn’t want to drink at all, so we bypassed that for individual drinks and an ice tea for me.

I don’t mind the drive at al from Alva to downtown Ft Myers, and this place would be well worth the trip! Check out their website by clicking here.
