My wife and I met up with some fellow residents we met while at the pool in the Amenity Center for dinner at Bruno’s in downtown Ft Myers. We got there around 5:30pm and the place was packed on the inside, but there were a lot of empty tables outside. By the time we left there was a line and all the outdoor tables were filled, a very popular place. This was a Thursday night. I can’t imagine the weekend!

They just have a beer and wine license, so I had a glass of Chianti which I haven’t had in a long time and so did my wife. I ordered the Calamari with Red Sauce. That was the spiciest red sauce I’ve ever had in an Italian restaurant! I ended up eating the Calamari without dipping it in the red sauce. Its a good thing the breading, which was nice and light, was very flavorful. I cleaned my plate! Everybody else ordered the Caprese Salad which looked awfully good. Those plates were cleaned too!

Next up were the entrees. My wife ordered the meatballs with the house made Pasta. I ordered the Sausage, Peppers and Onions with the house made Pasta. When I made sausage, peppers and onions in my restaurants I served it with red sauce. This was served with garlic oil. A lot of oil. I mean I never seen so much oil in a dish. The sausage, which is house made, was very tasty and the dish, overall, had a nice flavor. I did ask for a side of red sauce and was brought one with no questions asked. Our waitress was really nice. Everybody was really nice. It was warm in there, however. Our table was right next to the cooking line and the oven, but I bet it was hot all over the place. When we left and got outside it actually felt nice even though it was quite hot and humid out. The air was moving, you felt a breeze. A fan inside would be nice.

Mass amounts of food. Only one dish was eaten in its entirety, so most took leftovers home. I ate my pieces of sausage the next day and used the peppers and onion to make nachos! My wife’s leftover meatballs and pasta was delicious. We ate the meatballs and pasta cold and the flavor was outstanding! I think I liked it better the next day! Everyone enjoyed their food. No complaints. My wife and I had a piece of lemoncello cake for dessert. It was OK, but we’ll try the Tiramisu the next time. That’s right! We will be going back! Here’s a link to there website.
